PCPPA Member Spotlight – Ellery Studio LLC (Tricia Larmore)

Tacoma Photographers Professional Community

This week PCPPA is pleased to feature Tricia Larmore of Ellery Studio LLC on the PCPPA member feature!

Ellery Studio LLC
Email: ellerystudio@gmail.com
Website: http://www.ellerystudiophotography.com/
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ellerystudioLLC

Please share a little about your business and what you photograph:
Ellery Studio LLC began in Oct. 2015, I have a professional in-home studio and I also go on location. I’ve had a camera in my hand since I was a kid and got my first DSLR in 1996; it was a Canon Rebel 35mm. I got it right after my daughter was born and took rolls and rolls of film daily.

Could you describe your style and artistic approach as a photographer?
I try and capture a persons authentic self and stay true to them during editing. A little tweak in LR/PS goes a long way and my clients look like the best version of themselves in their portraits. Much of the desired effect is achieved with lighting techniques.

What are your favorite subjects to photograph? How did you discover your passion?
People, for sure. I have had a camera in my hand since I was 7 years old, my little brother was my first favorite subject. When I was 8, I was taken to rodeo and instead of sitting in the stands, I walked around and shot things of interest. Needless to say, I’ve always loved and had a passion for photography.

Who has been your biggest source of inspiration, or greatest mentor in photography?
I’m not really sure where this passion stemmed from. As far back as I can remember-taking pictures has always been my “thing” as well as looking at family photo albums over and over.

What makes your photography business different or unique?
I’m a pretty unique person, with an eclectic background. I connect with all different types of people. Also, I give people what I would want and expect from my photographer…and I have high expectations.

What do you wish potential clients could know about your business?
That I have turned my lifelong passion into a profession. I take this business very seriously and want to meet and exceed my clients expectations.

What traits do you think are important to look for or have as a Professional Photographer?
For me, capturing the mood or emotion of the given situation is important to me. Constant evolution, learning and growth as well as time management.

Please share a little about your business and what you photograph.
We specialize in Children’s Portraits
From Newborn to High School Senior as well as Family Portraits.

How did you start or find your passion in Photography?
It started in high school when I was on the yearbook committee and had my first camera running around the campus taking pictures for the yearbook.

Share your biggest lesson or a valuable tip about what you have learned through your career as a Professional Photographer?
Stay true to your art! If you have a style that pleases you and you get excited over the images you produce, you will start to get clients that share the same artistic vision and the work will come.

Who has been your biggest source of inspiration, or greatest resource for education in photography?
I had a photographer friend years ago that told me the importance of catching the subjects personality through their eyes. This has stuck with me over the years.

What makes your photography business different or unique in your specific niche?
We specialize in children’s photography as well as Preschool/ private school photography bringing a studio quality portrait on location.

What do you carry in your Camera bag? OR What is your go to Camera setup and why?
Nikon D3s
2-Nikon D2x’s
A ton of lenses but I use the 24-70 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 the most. I love the glass on both of these lenses and they seem to cover the focal length that I need.

How would you describe your style or approach to your work as a photographer?
I like to interact with my clients I am a very outgoing person. I am dedicated and feel I should do everything possible to ensure that my client is happy with the product that they recieve.

What do you feel is the most important take away for your Clients from their photography experience?
That they had fun! Along with capturing their true personality. Capturing life’s moments that can be passed on for generations.
